Present: Peter Bosted, Keith Griffioen, Sebastian Kuhn, Perry Anthony, Bill Olson, John Weisend Beam: Use of foilto spread out y emittance (to be used in E158) may be good for RPC. May not need the goiniometer mover. Peter and Ted will investiaget this. Scott promised to get order for copper for dump magnet coils out very soon. Promised to get Leo working of designing the coil winding fixtures. Roger pointed out that getting the winding fixture built will be a problem as the MFD shops are overloaded. Perry asked: can original manufacturer mak new coils? Can old coils be rebuilt? E161 Spectromreter. Sebastian Kuhn (with help from Lew Keller and Peter) has a new design using 2.4 m of magnetized iron in LASS. This is now on the web as TN21. Sebastian and Peter will study the backgrounds and resolutions with this desgin. A full 3D calculation still is needed. Don Crabb says it ok to have large amount of iron neraby (once had a magnet 2 feet away from a pol. target magnet). Gradiant should be 1 G/cm or less. E160 Target: esign continuing; steady progress being made. Peter needs to look at different pipe designs. E161 Target: Don is looking into ways to save money and improve the dilution factor, using a smaller bore magnet with a longer uniform field region. Meeting planned in November at SLAC to meet with Oxford engineer and look at possible design modifcations.
