Present: Prry Anthony, Peter Bosted, Don Crabb, Keith Griffioen, Bill Olson, Steve Rock, John Weisend Photon Beam: Bill and Scott working on installation plan. Looks like double shifts needed if done only on ROD days, and even then it is very tight if need to be ready in January 04. Note: GLAST wants coherent brem. for a test run in ESA. They asked for Feb./Mar. Need for Ray or someone to work on instrument designs soon. Perry will organize another meeting with managment nexgt week. Compton Polarimeter. Have obstained pre-award for $60K for Yerevan to work on this. Now filling out paperwork to get actual award in place. Kolia Dallakyan at Yerevan has been looking into using single electron (possible veto-ed if positron detected from BH), rather than e/gamma coincidence. Would need electron tracking. Reason is: huge flux of low energy gammas makes detecting high energy one hard. E160 target: Peter is looking over Mike's drawing. E161 Target. Microwave tubes have been ordered. If measure J/psi in E161, will want max. flux of photons (about 150 mW). Is this too much for dilution frdige? Don says it should handle 500 mW at 0.5K, so should be ok, but we may have to run a higher temp. than with less photon flux. E159 Target: should we use E143 target? If so, should we do E159 earlier in case Jlab needs it again? John and Don think a good idea in prinicple, if shipped out Spring 03. Should roots pumps be shipped out, or can E161 pumping system be used for E159 target? Don think no, need bigger pump. John want new, oil-free pump systm. Mayb this should work for both. Maybe could use 400 m**3 pumps from Seppo (presently at Jlab, no use plannd there). Don and John will work on a plan. E160 Spectrometer. Got 10K bid from Berekly on 3D field calculations: have asked for 5 different wedge length/width combinations. Guy at Duke also proceeding with calcs using MERMAID. New UCLA student Steve Guertin has started looking at simulation of detectors. Peter send simulation files to Eugene Chudakov so he can do independant GEANT analysis. Greg Mitchell says he can convert the E155 tracking code to C++, at least the parts that are useful. Don says Nuetron bars now availalbe: should ship to WM and/or SLAC reasonably soon. E161 Simulations: New paper out on asym. for exclusive D/Lambda_c channel (A=0.2 typical). This reaction minimized if we detect two muons, because Lambda_c has small BR to muons. E160 simulations: UMass student, Mioa Wang started on simulating E160, specifically the inelastic J/psi events and how the A-dep on inelastic can be separated from q.e. January Collaboration meeting: not all talks on web yet. Keith and Don will bug people. Post-doc: Steve Williams said no money for this year, not even if make this a term EFD appointment instead. This is discouraging. Ken Baird: is leaving for Los Alamos. Mo suggested as possible replacement for "floor manager". Will sk Nawal for Lee's email, in case he is still interested. Budgts: UVa has a 25% cut, may affect SLAC involvement. Keith says his funding from DOE may suffer also because of NSAC statement that Jlab and RHIC should have priority. May be very hard to get postdoc for SLAC. April phone meetings will be on Tuesdays.
