Instructions for running HLT software (from Simon George): John Baines keeps instructions to run trigger examples up to date here:

The section "JobOptions and Configuration" explains what you could run. There is a clearly marked recommended current release, which is supposed to run 'out of the box' with no special recipe.
Beware that the linked information about "slices" (muon, e/gamma, b-tag etc.) may be a bit out of date or lack of documentation in some cases.
