Minutes SLAC-ALTAS TDAQ Meeting 27-Jul-2006 ------------------------------------------- Present: Sarah, Steffen, Stephen (phone), Su Dong, Rainer Stephen: The two packages TriggerTools, TriggerMenuCompiler are added now. Some problem getting TriggerTools to work because it's using Java. Will install first version of DetCommon with that little wrinkle. Lost some, but not all functionality of the GUI. Also needs change of ATLAS core that will now be released next week. Trying to get a hold of the person that has the password for Point 1. As soon as ATLAS core is out next version of DetCommon and the following version will have full Java. Sarah: Put (a dummy) dbproxy into a package in order to get something into a nightly build that is consistent with the package structure. This will get it into the database that makes it available for loading in RunControl. Amedeo: Next step to swith to ERS (error reporting system). Put IPC in which uses CORBA. Put into CVS. Then nightly. Introduce COOL as the client interface. This will open up Oracle and SQLite as well. The ability to use shared memory. May be beneficial performance, but also could change the way HLT works, because rather than using multiple threads that access their process memory, one could use separate processes that access the shared mem. Question whether one should pick (or define) a common shared memory interface to use. Large Scale Tests: dbproxy is formally included. There is a possibility (rumor) that the test might not take place. Some discussion amongst ourselves. We feel that such a test is vital. Will see. Steffen: Now have an IP address for the Oracle server. Machine was waiting for power. Sounded like the machine was on the list but not sure. Will talk to John Weiskopf directly about the farm and power issues. Can start using farm from Aug 22 in IR2. Plan to use the farm in situ as is. Keep up the pressure to get it moved to SCCS as soon as possible, but don't wait for that. A.O.B: Need to get the travel authorization out for TDAQ London. Register on the London website. Su Dong will see if there's a way to pay it through the CERN account.
