Decaying LSPs Contact: Claus Horn (cla@slac.stanford.edu) The possible discovery of Supersymmetry is one of the main purposes of the LHC experiments. If R-parity violating SUSY couplings are below current experimental limits but non-zero the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) may decay to standard model particles producing signatures of displaced vertices in various parts of the ATLAS detector. The aim of this project is to identify such vertices in generated signal events and discriminate it with respect to various types of background events including nuclear interactions with detector material, in flight decays of Pions and Kaons and the conversion of photons to electron-positron pairs.
