Dear SLAC/ATLAS collaborators and friends, As this list is still growing, here are some details on our BBQ this Sunday, July 23. First of all, please don't forget to bring your family/spouse/partner/friend! * Location * For the venue we picked beautiful Pomponio State Beach, which is located about 12 miles south of Half Moon Bay on Highway Number 1. Here is the website of the beach with a few pictures and some additional information: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=521 (If you need to see this in even more detail, click on the aerial image on this page, http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=6239&mode=sequential&flags=0 and you can make out where you could be sitting having fun.) We are planning to start the grill at noon. From SLAC it should take about 45 min to get there by car. * Food * To make it easy for our non-local guests, we will take care of food and beverages. Unless you prefer to bring something for yourself, we will ask you for a donation on the order of $10. * Transportation * For those of you who need a ride we will organize car pools. I suggest that those who want to car pool will meet at SLAC at 11am. We'll send more details as soon as we have a head count. Directions: To get there from SLAC, go up Sand Hill Rd and take 280 North towards San Francisco, stay on the freeway until the big exit onto Hwy 92 towards Half Moon Bay. Follow the road up the hill and down again all the way until you hit Highway Number 1, then turn left and follow the highway south for 12 miles till you see the sign for Pomponio State Beach. It can be fresh at the ocean. Don't be misled by the temperature on campus, you may want to bring a sweater. * Reply * Please reply to let us know if you are coming (or if you are not), and o how many people you plan to bring o if you need a ride, or are willing to offer one (how many seats) And if you like to bring something to eat or drink yourself, please let us know that, too. We like to get a head count by Friday. If you decide later to join us on Sunday, you are still welcome, we just can't promise you transportation or food. We hope to see many of you on Sunday! I'm sure it's going to be fun. Cheers -- Rainer
