Welcome to the CSQCD Vol. IV proceedings homepage

The symposia ''Compact Stars in the QCD Phasediagram'' (CSQCD) have been organized since 2001, starting in Copenhagen/Denmark followed by Beijing/China in 2009 and Guaruja/Brazil in 2012.

The fourth event of the conference series CSQCD was held in the city of Prerow, situated at the German coast of the Baltic Sea in the period September 26 - 30, 2015. It was jointly organized by the University of Wroclaw, the University of Darmstadt and the University of Rostock.

The focus of this conference was on the problem of the appearance of QCD degrees of freedom in violent astrophysical events such as core-collapse supernovae and neutron star mergers as well as in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. A profound theoretical description of the underlying physical phenomena necessarily involves the equation of state and transport properties of QCD matter and nuclear matter, which are derived from non-perturbative quantum field theories and many-body physics of strong interactions. The following topics have been discussed during the meeting:

  • Non-equilibrium and transport phenomena in dense matter
  • Equation of state and QCD phase transitions
  • Hadron production in heavy-ion collisions
  • QCD in astrophysics of compact stellar objects, supernovae and neutron star mergers
