Recent high-performance PCs are now available at considerably lower cost than before. It is apparent that introduction of PCs are preferable even for our existing Unix-based control system. In 1999, the surveillance processes for klystrons and vacuum ion pumps were ported from the Unix machines to two linux PCs. In this report, we will discuss robustness, cost, and operation experiences of linux PCs based on the 2-year operation.
