This directory contains the manual TeX at CERN in PostScript
format. For user convenience the file has been subdivided
in its constituent chapters as follows:

texacern.ps         Complete manual
texcerni.ps         Title, table of contents,...
texcern123.ps       Chapters 1, 2, 3
texcern4.ps         Chapter 4
texcern5.ps         Chapter 5
texcern6.ps         Chapter 6
texcern78.ps        Chapters 7, 8
texcern9.ps         Chapter 9
texcerna.ps         Appendices, bibliography and index

Organising the file in this way will make it easier to transfer
the various parts and also minimize problems when printing (e.g. 
when a font like Zapf-Dinbats is not available, or when your
printer's memory is too small).

The files have been compressed with the gnu gzip utility.
They thus have to be transferred in binary mode, i.e.,
(user commands are underlined)

ftp> binary
     ------
ftp> get texacern.ps.gz
     ------------------

If you do not have that utility installed on your computer, you
can obtain the files in uncompressed form by dropping the .gz
suffix and transferring the file(s) in ascii mode, e.g., 

ftp> ascii
     -----
ftp> get texacern.ps
     ---------------
