03/21/00 Update

PEP-II Update March 21, 2000

The past week has been a good period in which almost everything went well with relatively few hardware problems. We have been operating without the LER wiggler to reduce the LER beam sizes at the interaction point. The operations staff has continuously increased the accelerator performance.

On Sunday March 19 PEP-II achieved a new luminosity record of 1.87 x 10**33/cm**2/s with 829 bunches with 970 mA in the LER and 800 mA in the HER. Our best results for delivered integrated luminosity to BaBar are 38.2 pb-1 in one eight hour shift, 104.2 pb-1 in one day and 544 pb-1 in one week. BaBar logs to tape about 94% of these values.

A small get-together is planned to celebrate our first two 100 pb-1 days and a 500 pb-1 week.
