Workshop on Radiative Corrections in B, D, and K Meson Decays
University of California, San Diego (La Jolla, CA)
Natural Sciences Building (NSB) 1205
Monday, March 14, 2005
Purpose:
The precisions anticipated by recent or currently running experiments on
branching fraction, form factor, and moment measurements for B, D and K mesons
will catapult radiative corrections to the fore. Such precision will
necessitate clear definition of the experimental measurements and comparison to
theoretical predictions that incorporate radiative corrections to avoid significant (by comparison)
systematic uncertainties on the underlying
electroweak and QCD parameters of interest. The current theoretical tools for
such a program, which range in age from 15 to 35 years, do not provide adequate accuracy.
This workshop's primary goals are:
- to bring the situation to
light within the theoretical and experimental community; and
- to develop a strategy for
improvement both of radiative simulation tools for use in MC generators and of
specific analytic calculations for incorporation into theoretical form factor
or moment predictions.
Program:
The workshop is scheduled for March 14, 2005. The morning session will consist of a small number of overview
talks covering the current experimental and theoretical situation, followed by a few presentations on plans for future measurements
and calculations. The afternoon session will be dedicated primarily to brainstorming/discussion.
This workshop takes place a day before the
CKM Workshop, in the same location (UCSD), a convenience for those who would like to attend both
workshops. The CKM workshop page has plenty of useful information regarding travel to the La Jolla
area, local accomodations, sites, etc. N.B. The CKM workshop will be held at the Price Center, while the Radiative Corrections Workshop will be held in the Natural Sciences Building.
The agenda
with links to the presentations is now available.
Registration:
Registration is required to assure adequate space and services.
Please register before March 1, 2005.
There is no fee. Refreshments during breaks will be provided for registered participants.

- Travel and Accomodations:
Please see the CKM Workshop travel page for valuable
information regarding travel to the San Diego area and for a list of hotels near UCSD. Participants may use the
reference CKM 2005 - UCSD to receive the group rate. Please note that reservation deadlines for some of
the hotels are as early as February 1.
- Parking: If arriving by car, you will need to purchase a parking permit (price will be around $10). If you will be needing a parking
permit, please inform Carlo Dallapiccola as soon as possible so that it will be reserved in advance (deadline is March 1 for obtaining parking permits).
- Meals: We will provide refreshments during the breaks.
- Contributions:
In order to link contributions to the agenda and make them available on
the web, participants are asked to provide a .pdf or .ps file to Carlo Dallapiccola
24 hours before the session by either:
- Sending a URL for the file,
- Sending the file via e-mail attachment, or
- Copying the file on a USB memory stick or CD.
Invited introductory talks will be presented via computer
projection All hand-written transparencies will be
scanned.
