Step 1: Preparatory Reading
-
For line management or for reference, the
SLAC Safety

-
Be sure you have
read "Values and Expectations Regarding Safety, Health, and the Environment
at SLAC" [pdf],
which you received at the front gate on Monday
-
Most BABARians should read the "Good Practices"
summary and Chapters 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 19 from the
ES&H
Manual, as well as the
Employee Orientation for ES&H
-
Physicists who work on the detector should also read
Chapters 6, 15, 25, 41 (also
B29A)
from the
ES&H
Manual; you
should also read the sections "Emergency procedures, general safety" and
"What to do when..." of the
Care & Feeding Manual
-
Review relevant
ES&H Bulletins (contain policy not yet in the ES&H Manual)
-
Browse and be aware of the
Work
Smart Standards (WSS)
-
Read revised
SLAC Traffic Control Program, September 2004
-
If you are administrative staff or spend about 20% or more
of your daily work at a computer or a desk, review and treat as guidance the

Safety" in the top center of the module

a test completion record

Step 2: Work up your answer to the question "What do you do
when you are at SLAC?"
-
You may be surprised by your answer to this question! For
example, even administrators sometimes turn up in IR-2.
-
On-site BABARians who are not SLAC employees, and any SLAC
employees not covered in another SLAC group, should attend general meeting
at 2:00pm on October 18 in the Redwood Room; all BABARians are of course

You may want to visit some of the sites where you work at
