Service Work for BaBar Members

New BaBar Members - whether new to the collaboration, or Associates who are becoming Members - are required to take on a service task corresponding to 50% of their time for the first year. There is an additional requirement at the institutional level. All institutions in BaBar are expected to contribute to service work at an average level of 0.3 FTE per member (all members, not just new ones).  See the Membership Rules for more details.

To get ideas for tasks, talk to the appropriate Detector System Manager, the Technical Coordinator, Physics Analysis Coordinator, Computing Coordinator, or Spokesperson. If you are not sure where to start, talk to Kathy Webb, the BaBar administrator. The Spokesperson web page contains a list of high-priority positions, and links to other task lists.

Once you have a project in mind:
  • If you are currently an Associate, email the BaBar Administrator to request a change in your status. Your institutional PI will need to approve the change.
