Some ideas and lessons learned that have come up during past events:

Locations: 
- SLAC ROB patio 
- SLAC Guesthouse patio ($100 fee if regular)
- Nearby park (alcohol allowed, but no BBQ) 
- Jointly go out for dinner / to a pub? Dutch Goose is a popular place (close to SLAC). 
- At someone's house

Alcohol? 
- If serving alcohol at SLAC, need approval from Director each time. 
  May be hard to get on a monthly basis... Donna Hernandez can take care 
  of this, but need some weeks lead time to get the approval. 

Food: 
- Cold finger food: Crackers & cheese, chips, carrots & cellery w/dip, grapes, pita & hummus... etc.
- Catering hot food 
- BBQ & salads
- Bring-a-plate / pot-luck (everyone brings a dish)


Event topic?
In addition to food and drinks, it may be of more interest if we define a topic for the event. 
- Brief talk on some topic in the ROB redwoods before social gathering on the patio. 
- Summer "sport" event... frisbee / badminton / games ... 
- Visit to the BABAR detector

- Gastronomical event: Speciality food from a participant's home country / state / city.
