Trigger Group Software Efforts - A Summary __________________________________________ Current efforts focus on aiding the conceptual design of the Level 1 hardware trigger. We need to have a design by the February 23, 1996, Preliminary Design Requirements Review. Starting in 1996, Software filters (Level 2 and Level 3) will be studied as well. L1 contains Drift Chamber and Calorimeter triggers. Code includes: 1) digitization, to make up for the fact that TRG schedule has historically been ahead of both DCH and EMC, 2) trigger algorithms, which is feature extraction, pattern recognition and reconstruction all in one, 3) analysis code to tabulate efficiencies, rates and event time jitter, 4) event display code for debugging and quality control. In the current structure (SRT + GEANT 3.21), trigger packages are equivalent to the digitization stage of the 6 detector subsystems. Input data: Level 1 input data are GEANT hits from the DCHA and EMCA systems. Level 2 and Level 3 Silicon trigger algorithms were using SEGANAL (OBJEGS). Thus trigger is a consumer of geometry and hits. Trigger code is written to explore new ideas and algorithms - the current code is neither standard nor long-lived. To meet the schedule demands with existing low level of manpower, Level 1 trigger code 1+2 are Fortran 77 and 3+4 are PAW kumacs. The Level 1 reconstruction will be done in hardware: All code is throw-away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
