Trouble shooting for the DIRC
Down on this page you find a description of the hardware setup.
The actual status of the hardware is shown in the following
page.
The structure of the system:
- module
( 6 modules; 0 - 5 )
- sector
( 12 sectors; 2 adjacent sectors per module)
- harness
( 14 DFB boards (harnesses) per sector)
- TDC
chip ( 4 TDC
chips per DFB board (harness); 16 channels per chip)
- phototube
(896 tubes per sector)
- HV
group ( 56 HV groups per sector)
For sector 0 the DFB
mapping (harness) and the
HV grouping are shown here:
(this mapping is the same for all sectors)

1) Basic system failures:
- trip of an high voltage crate affects two
adjacent sectors
one should see this immediately in the occupancy
plot and in the TDC-hits/sector plot
- loss of high voltage connection
- single dead channels
the following channels have been removed on purpose:
2) Malfunctions :
- high voltage group noisy
(christmas tree problem)
- DFB crate noisy (harness)
- single channel noisy
-
3) High background level :
