BaBar EMC Power Cable Requirements

Version of 04-Feb-97

VREG, +5v,-5v,Interlock

This cable should be made up as a 6 core cable with :

  • Two power conductors of 2mm2 area(14AWG) multistrand tinned copper wire with a maximun insulation diameter of 3.3mm suggested colours Red/Black.
  • Two pair of 0.15mm2 area twisted pair multistrand tinned copper wire with an overall braided shield with a coverage of at least 90% suggested colours Red/Black & Yellow/Blue
The six cores will have an overall braided shield with a coverage of at least 90%. The outer jacket should have an overall diameter no greater than 8.2mm and coloured Black

The exact length of cable is not well known but expected to be in the region of 20-25m per run.

We require 3 cables in each of 125 Cable runs. Therefore we require : 25x3x125 = 9.375Km

All insulating materials must meet one or more of the following standards:

  • NFPA 262 (UL910)"Modified Stiener Tunnel Test"
  • Factory Mutual Standard 3972,Group 1
  • CERN,Safety Instruction,IS 23,Rev 2
  • ASTM E 1354, ISO 560
Cable should have a unique part number visible on the outer jacket for future ref. or re-order.

This should be supplied on drums in multiples of our working length.

For tendering and prototyping purposes we will require to have :

  • 300metres of cable on a short turn round 4-6weeks,delivered UK.
  • With the balance on a longer time scale 9-12 months delivered USA.
