Steps for taking Data
In order to take cosmic-ray data, you must follow these steps:
- Log on to Proto II Workstation
- Turn On the Power Supplies
- Start the DAQ program
- Start the Run
- Stop the Run
Prototype II has two sets of high voltage power supplies (one for the
scintillator trigger and one for the DCH wires), a low voltage supply for
the front-end electronics, and a few independent crates.
Steps to be followed
1.Check water level in the chiller.Maintain water level in the chiller such that thermometer is dipping in the water.Start the chiller when this done.
2.Put the power on for Low Voltage.
3.Put the power on for High Voltage.
4.Check the Proto II chiller status.Green light indicates water is flowing.Red light indicates water is not flowing.
1.Enter cd $BFROOT/detector/dch/DchProto2
in the terminal window.
2.After step1 is completed, Enter source DchTestStand/setup.csh
3.After step2 is completed, Enter startXyplex
4.A small window will appear on the screen having two options. a)ROC26
b)JAY
Click on ROC26.
5.After step4 is completed, Enter startCalib
6.Another small window will appear having three options.
a)Reboot ROM
b)Run Calibration on the ROM
c)Validate Calibration
click on Reboot.Then Run Calibration.
7.Enter configuration key as 4a2
8.Check if it runs successfully. If no,then try to fix the errors.
1.In the terminal window, enter
DchTestStand/run-FCGUI.csh
2.Two windows will appear.
a)Event Level
b)Control Level
3.Check if the event level is completed successfully. If yes, type exit. This will make the event level ready.
4.Hit return in the control level window if step 3 is completed successfully.
5.Once steps 3 & 4 are completed successfully,we will get a window named Dataflow Finite State Machine Manager.
6.Click on Configured (Not the arrow but words)
7.Enter value of allchan.dat in environment as 0x43f
8.Enter value 0xffffffff in triggerlist to show all triggers.
1.Click on the arrow showing configured.Check if the control level window shows any error message. If yes, then try to fix the error. If not, then follow the arrows.
2.Once all the arrows are followed, quit the window.
3.Check if any error messages are there in control window. If yes,try to fix it.If no,quit the window.
4.Data taking has been successfully completed.
