Attention DCH Shift Takers!
This is a summary of your responsibilities as a Drift Chamber shifter.
Please read this once before you take your first shift.
It's all about common sense, we know, but there are a few things we would
like you to remind yourself. Thank you for your cooperation.

on the BaBar DCH Operation Home page. It is advised that you start
from this page !
General Responsibilities
The DCH QA shifter is responsible for ensuring the quality of the
DCH data. To this goal, you are required to:
- Check on things at IR-2 at least once or twice a day.
- Read the BaBar and DCH electronic logbooks for the current shift,
and previous shifts since you last did this.
- Talk to the DCH Operations Manager and/or the BaBar Shift Leader,
to see if there are things you should watch for in the data.
- Check the
online calibration
- Problems in the data could be due to bad calibrations.
- Electronics problems could be reflected in bad calibrations.
- Check the data-quality monitoring histograms.

- Communicate and share information.
- Let the DCH Operation Manager know every day when you have done
your duty: send a mail that sumarizes your daily activities.
- The DCH Operation Manager will contact you one day before
you start/finish your shift.
- Get news from the previous shifter and the BaBar shifter.
- Read the Current Problems page
for a list of known, ongoing problems.
- Read the DCH and BaBar
electronic logbook.
- Write everything on the
DCH
electronic logbook!
- Give news to the next shifter.
