EMC Monitoring: Swapping chillers

  • Switching valves
Note: Until further notice, switching ON the EMC chillers is only allowed for trained personnel using the correct PPE (personal protective equipment). This means you'll have to page either HVAC or a qualified electrician.

The valve switching procedure is described on the valve panel itself and is straightforward.

  • Modifying the SIAM configuration
When a chiller is off for a long period of time and the spare is taking over, the input signals of the stopped chillers have to be inhibited. This is done by pushing the yellow button "INH" on the SIAM display.

  • Here are the 3 different possible combinations You can be faced with and the inhibit settings you have to enable:
    • EndCap + Barrel Chillers OK, Spare stopped

    • SIAM 0 Inhibit channel 4
      SIAM 1 Inhibit Channel 5
      SIAM 2 no inhibits
      SIAM 3 Inhibit Channel 0,1,2,3

inputs 0 to 3 of the spare siam are inhibited.
    • EndCap OK, Barrel stopped, Spare running on Barrel line

    • SIAM 0 Inhibit channel 4
      SIAM 1 Inhibit Channel 1,2,3,4
      SIAM 2 no inhibits
      SIAM 3 no inhibits

inputs 1 to 4 of the barrel siam are inhibited and all inputs to the spare siam are active.
    • EndCap stopped, Barrel OK, Spare running on EndCap line

    • SIAM 0 Inhibit channel 0,1,2,3
      SIAM 1 Inhibit Channel 5
      SIAM 2 no inhibits
      SIAM 3 no inhibits
