Minutes of the Dec 15 Forum meeting devoted to background issues

Terry Geld gave the status of the new background simulation. It contains a much more precise description of the beamline than the old TDR MC and is now ready to use with improved Turtle rays. All subsystems are therefore strongly encouraged to try it . Jim Cochran gave a very complete list of technical tips on how to get this going. If you have still problems, please contact Terry or Jim.

The various subdetectors gave a presentation of their reconstruction robustness wrt background . These studies are made either random hits or with TDRx10 simulation. Most of these studies will be remade with the new simulation in the next months.

  • SVT (N. Kuznetsova) : The SVT tracking seems to cope with up to 10% of occupancy.
  • DCH (Steve Wagner) : The DC track reconstruction is robust in TDRx10
  • DIRC (Guy for Gautier) reco OK up to 0.5 MHz per tube. (hardware limit 1 MHz)
  • EMC (A. Mc Kemey)
  • IFR (H.Band)

Pat Burchat gave an outline of the main questions we will have to solve to understand the effect of background of physics.
