How to Find Memory Leaks

You should first make sure your program runs. You can isolate memory leaks either manually or with a software tool. A warning about the leak checking tools -- Only some of the reported leaks are actual leaks. Also many of the leaks are singular, e.g. happening only at initialization.

Manual approach.
