This page is meant to document all the important releases and their recommended tags. Knowledgeable people are encouraged to update information here.
 

Several kinds of releases are documented here.

• "Current" releases 4.3.8, 5.3.2, 6.0.2, 6.7.5, 6.10.10, 6.10.12, 6.10.13, 7.12.8, 8.1.12 -- The QA team takes releases which are in "test" state, runs a standard set of jobs, and documents their performance. Tables and plots track performance as a function of release.
• Used in Beta tutorial (which is being replaced by the User Workbook): 4.3.8, 5.3.2, 6.8.1, 6.10.6, 6.10.8, 6.10.10, and 6.10.13.
• Used in the User Workbook: 7.12.8.
• Production releases often have a letter at the end, e.g. 4.3.7c. They are not real releases in the sense that "newrel -t 4.3.7c" will not work. It is simply a convenient way to refer to the release plus the set of tags used in mass production. 

  • Pre-PRV0 production releases: 3.0.2b, 4.0.2, 4.0.2a, 4.0.2b, 4.0.3b, 4.0.3c, 4.0.3d, 4.0.3e, 4.0.3g, 4.0.3h, 4.0.5b, 4.1.1a, 4.1.1b, 4.2.1a, 4.3.7a, 4.3.7b, 4.3.7c, 4.3.7d, 4.3.7e, 4.3.7f, 4.3.7g, 4.3.8a, 4.3.9a.
  • PRV0 production releases: 7.11.2b, 7.11.2d, 7.12.7a, 7.12.7b.
• Seemingly used by many people: 5.3.2, 6.10.6, 7.12.4

The recommended tags are a good starting point for the average user. They may not be needed for all jobs, e.g. if you are running BBSIM, you probably don't need any tags related to Beta. Nor are these tags sufficient for all jobs; we certainly didn't build and test all binaries.

• Lots! Use all the recommended tags (aka 7.12.8a) only if you want to redo your own reconstruction. Otherwise, most are unnecessary.
