The terminal server is located in rack 9. You can connect to it via
telnet bbr-tty1 followed by the port number which is 2000
+ 100 * the port you plugged into. Sometimes there will be garbage
stuck in the buffer or line. Other times, doing a ctrl-] and mode
line will get rid of other garbage that crops up during the
telnet. To quit, use ctrl-] then type quit at the
telnet>. Make sure to plug in both ends of the cable and
that your adapter on the IOC end is properly configured. Contact Perry
Anthony or Ray Rodriguez for more details.
The actual adapter is a converter from an RJ-45 (eight pin) to DB-25
Male. The pin mapping is:
| RJ-45 Pin & Color | DB-25 Male |
|---|---|
| 4 Green | 1 |
| 3 Yellow | 2 |
| 6 Black | 3 |
| 8 Blue | 4 |
| 1 White | 5 |
| 7 Orange | 6 |
| 5 Red | 7 |
| 2 Brown | 20 |
