This opearion is accessible from the Tools menu. Update locks the content of the numeric tree database, which can interfere with other activities. This operation must be coordinated with the run pilot. When you start update operation the popup window with the reminder will be displayed asking you for confirmation:
If you chose to continue new dialog will appear in which you you have to select two things: the system name you are going to update and the list of systems whose run types should be updated. Here is dialog window:
Usually you only have to select the subsystem in which you have changed alias trees in the left list and press OK. This will update numeric objects and maps in the selected system and run type maps in all systems depending on your changed configurations.
When you start update pressing OK button in the dialog the progress window will pop up. In case there are no actual updates required to the numeric trees the dialog will appear saying just that:
Otherwise, when update finishes successfully you will be present with the confirmation dialog:
At this point you can review the update results which are summarized in the top window and either abort or commit these changes. When you commit your changes new window will appear in which you should compose a message which will be sent to HyperNews (or other address):
Top box will contains the same summary ochnges as the previous window, you cannot change anything there. The address where the message will be send is shown in the middle box (this is BaBar Hypernews group). You can change the address in the box after pressing the "Change" button. Don't forget to type few words in the comments box.
