Operations with alias list
Below is the list of operations supported by the alias list browser. The operations can be performed by selecting some item in the browser and choosing the corresponding action from the context menu (right-clicking mouse button), from the Actions menu, or from the browser tool bar. Every operation below lists where corresponding action can be found. Some operations can be performed only when transaction is in update mode, they are marked with [update].
- Display (Ctrl+Y)
- Pops up a window displaying the details for the object selected in the right pane. Accessible from the context menu in the right pane. This is also a default action in the right pane, pressing <Enter> or double-clicking the item perform the same operation.
- Open (Ctrl+O)
- Opens database or container selected in the right pane. This action is available for the containers or databases only and is a default action for them. Also accessible from the context menu in the right pane.
- Explore (Ctrl+E)
- Opens new alias tree browser window. The map selected in the right pane will become a root object for the new browser. This action is available for the objects which are maps. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- Expand all (Ctrl+X)
- Expands the database selected in the left pane. In the context of alias list browser this is equvalent to double clicking database name in the left pane when it is "collapsed" or clicking an "expand" icon to the left of the item. Accessible from the context menu in the left pane.
- Show History
- Pops up a window displaying a history for an object selected either in the right or left pane. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- New Container [update]
- Creates new alias container in the databse selected in the left pane. Prompts for a name of the container to be created. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- New Alias [update]
- Creates new alias in the container selected in the left pane. Prompts for a name of the alias and a numeric key if the alias to be created is a map (this is determined by the type of the container.) Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- Copy Alias [update]
- Make a duplicate of the alias selected in the right pane. Prompts for a name of the new alias. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- Change Key [update]
- Changes the key for the leaf alias selected in the right pane. Prompts for a new numeric key. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
- Delete alias [update]
- Deletes the alias selected in the right pane. Asks for confirmation. Accessible from the right context menu, tool bar, and Actions menu.
