Simulation meeting minutes, 16 Aug 2004
The next simulation meeting is scheduled for 8:30
AM on
Monday, Aug 16th, 2004. If you wish to participate, please dial
+1(510) 665-5437, enter 1 and the
passcode 7548#, then follow
instructions.
The BeeHive, Central Lab G203 (second floor), has been reserved for 1.5
hours.
If you have something that you would like to present, please contact
Steven Robertson (steven@slac.stanford.edu) in order to be added to the
agenda.
Contribution to the meeting should be placed at here
and linked to the agenda located here.
- Core issues:
- GVertex problem fixed. Bgssensitvemanager builds
gtracks from g4tracks -> inital and terminal vertices
identical. Problem has been around from beginning.
GetPosition gets end of track. Fix requested to go into release
(tag posted), but mayy not yet be in due to i/o streams
migration. Does this have any consequences on current (or old)
simulation? Need to talk to Dave.
- Ghits from BgsApp bertini vs low energy param models (geisha)
to be checked before it goes into production. Few apparent
differences, but twice as many muons with bertini (possibily due to
more pions decaying?)
- high precision neutral processes are in .
- Subsystems:
- PEP/MDI/Backgrounds
- Bill testing Moose, populate Dch histograms -> either
DircSim
tag or 15.3.0 . produce tag set for ~15.5.0. compare
moose output
between 15.3.0 and 15.5.0. run dch...ntuple module (marcus
Christiani)
for correct config. Will talk to other subsystems people re how
to do
it for other subsystem. Used bhwide at ~5degrees to
populate dch
histograms.
- bbbrem should be interfaced BgsApp within next day or two
- mario and giovanni provided missing geometry last week, but
problem
with BgsLocation (q2 etc in wrong frame). removed (on vacation
last
week)
- more forward to 15.5 ?? i/o streams migrated (available,
but running??)
- Jo will run BgsApp w/ and w/o Mario's tag and check
histograms. Also attempting to get Moose running with extended
geometry (will move to 15.3+)
- SVT:
- DCH:
- crosstalk code improved and blessed by Gerhard.
Waiting to be tagged (i/o streams) generate validation ntuples for pid
and trigger people (over next couple of weeks). will make
collections for bbbar, mumu and rad bhabhas. Q: do we have
disc space for collections? Q: (SR) does sim group need
space?? Bill: useful to have space for histos...
Q: Jeff which mupair generator to use for validation
studies?? Discussion... want to compare data with MC.
"Better" mean whatever subgroups want (PID: dE/dx, trigger: vs
theta).
- DRC:
- Did PID meeting get moved?
- EMC:
- IFR:
- Trigger:
- Fast MC
- Generators:
- Abi just got back. List of needs from AWG's to
provide updates. Easy part is new br's, while spectra etc
will be more difficult. Doesn't take much time to generate but
involves much trial and error. Brian working on new
fragmentation model (forgot name). David W: can't use same
fragmentation model for D and Ds;. Jetset has only one
fragmentation function (makes c, cbar then fragments).
What do higher resonances contribute?? . Hard
fragmentaion (i.e. low multiplicity) could be generated using
dedicated generator. Need multiplicity distribution,
rapidity dist. etc. SR: How much work is this? David
will look into a possible program (a la LEP) for tuning fragmentation
model.
- AOB:
- SR:Validation of new sim releases? Dennis:
Adrian Bevan was to have developed a package. Dave W:
problem is finding good clean data/MC comparisons. Possible
control sample Ds. dimuons, tautau, breco, general conuum (get
rid of tautau). Feeddown from Y(3S)?? Needs
expertise from several AWG's etc. PAC. SR will follow up.
Action items
- SR will look into getting some sim group disk space
- Joachim (McGill) to validate Mario's tag with BgsApp in 15.2.0
- SR: find out whether PID group meeting was moved
- Jeff W: plan to produce dch validation collections for use by
subsytems (PID, etc)
- David W: come up with possible task list for program for
studying/improving fragmention
- SR will discuss data/MC validation program with PAC (also data
quality group?)
