New round of production
Rerun of first round trigger production with new BBSIM
- completion in early September for trigger group
- hadroproduction data for IFR needed ASAP to complete T0 analysis for September
- Queries are out to round one production sites re: interest in participating in round 2
- New sites with the CPU, manpower and interest to participate are very welcome!
- Tom Glanzman informed we plan to use SLAC more this time
- BUT we are still in the absurd situation that, while five remote sites found the local manpower to participate in round one, there is no onsite person at SLAC to manage local production at BaBar's principal (in principle) CPU
resource.
- Some of the lessons learned from round one:
- variations in how tar files are generated and tapes filled have to be minimized and procedures optimized to the tape situation (maximum file sizes, tape capacities) at SLAC
- the 'do-it-yourself' nature of tape management at SLAC will continue for the moment; we can better plan for it this time (routinize moving data from stacker to silo)
- given manpower levels we will continue to be dependent on the consumers of the production for feedback on data quality. This time the consumer analyses will be ready and waiting
- post-production mechanics of managing tapes, data sets was minimally addressed in the first round. In this round, the production running apparatus will be essentially unchanged and the new effort will go into post-production.
Some things we need before resuming production:
- T0 analysis ntuple added to mu_hist (but without adding new untested geometry
- other subsystem requests?
- build koralb into standard BBSIM
- XDR file status
- GHits for IFR, EMC stable
- DRC: DrcGTrkHits changes coming
- DCH?
- SVT contemplating major changes -- revised coord system -- albeit same structure (so only action needed for backward compatibility is SVT code sensitivity to a format flag in the hit)
- MC truth: HEPEVT ID added to gTrack; STDHEP common added to file. Needs C++ side test.
- More random numbers (easy)
- Please help complete the list
