BaBar reconstruction workshop, Stanford, Nov 14 and 15, 1997

A reconstruction workshop was held on the Stanford campus on November 14 and 15, preceeding the collaboration meeting. The emphasis was on technical discussions of specific problems and the solutions we are evolving, with emphasis on the areas of calibration and alignment, reconstruction with backgronds present, the eventual migration to event and calibration databases, and the ongoing Mock Data Challenge.

The next workshop in this series will be just before the March 1998 collaboration meeting.

9:00 - 10:45 AM Calibration information
Online calibration support
What exists, what's coming (Dave Brown)
Discussion
11:00 - 12:30 AM Prompt reconstruction
status of prompt reconstruction, current thinking on:
  • What constants will we be finding?
  • On what timescales?
  • (How) Do we feed results back to online?
  • How do we run across multiple machines?
  • How do we check the results?
  • How do we interface to prompt reconstruction?
1:30 - 3:00 PM System-specific calibration and aligment
Discussion of system-specific aspects
Goal: set of issues and items needed by the systems so they can make progress
3:30 - 5:00 PM Databases
David Quarrie will be leading discussions of the conditions and event store databases, installation of Objectivity, migration, etc.

Saturday Nov 15, 1997 Stanford Campus, Varian Physics Bldg., Rm 208

9:00 - 10:30 AM Alignment and calibration
What are our histogramming requirements?
DHP presentation. How can we provide unique histogram ids?
What do we want from MDC2?
What are our specific goals?
11:00 - 12:30 AM Reco deliverables for detector commisioning?
What do we need to have when for use with the detector commissioning, cosmic running, etc?
1:30 - 3:00 PM Any Other Business
