Regular meetings

This section lists normal times and expected dates for the ongoing reconstruction meetings. Note that not all meet in any given week. Annoucements are made in the RecoSoft BFMAIL list, and we encourage you to subscribe.

All of these meetings are tentative, and you should consult the announcements to see whether they are taking place in a given week.

Common Reconstruction Software - Monday 8:30AM California local time, even weeks.
This is a series of meetings intended for discussion and resolution of questions that cross system boundaries. These include common aspects of the system, release and scheduling questions, etc. Simulation meetings are held in the same timeslot in alternate weeks. Announcements were issued through the RecoSoft BFMAIL list.
Physics/Reconstruction/Simulation Forum - Tuesday, 8:30AM California local time, odd weeks.
Chaired by Maria Grazia Pia, these are intended for discussion and resolution of issues that overlap between physics analysis, reconstruction, and simulation. Purely system-specific questions should be taken to the relevent system meeting series (see below); physics-specific questions should be taken to the Physics Forum meetings (note similar name) held in the same timeslot in alternate weeks.
Tracking - Wednesday, 8:30AM California local time, even weeks.
These are now (spring 1997) occuring biweekly via phone and fax.

Recent meetings in this series have concentrated on the details of design for the common tracking, areas of current implementation, and presentations of future needs in alignment and improved track fitting.

See the tracking summary page for preparatory material and announcements. Minutes are posted to the tracking design discussion group.

SVT - Thursday, 8:30AM California local time, even weeks.
DCH - Wednesday, 8:30AM California local time, even weeks.
EMC - Wednesday, 8:30AM California local time, even weeks.
DRC - Wednesday, 8:30AM California local time, intermittently.
IFR - Thursday, 8:30AM California local time, intermittently
Trigger - Tuesday, ??? California local time, odd weeks.

Events in the recent past

Each of these has a summary page for more information.

Selected BaBar level 3 milestones

961101 Data Storage Design Review
Conclusion of evaluation studies and review prior to implementation of prototype data storage system.
970401 Mock Data Challenge 1
Demonstrate complete reconstruction chain, produce and process "signal" and "background" events (50K) for mock data analyses. No performance benchmarks, alignment or calibration information.
980601 Mock Data Challenge 2
As for Mock Data Challenge 1, plus 500K events allowing up to 10 complete analyses. Basic resolving of alignment and calibration constants. Reconstruction run on online farm with data to permanent storage. Benchmarking against requirements for 10**8 events.

Reconstruction milestones

960401 Prototype Reconstruction System Design
Data flow diagrams and documentation, specification of required classes/objects and methods/functions required to acheive goals for 11/96 (complete set of dummy objects and user analysis prototypes)
961031 Prototype Object Implementation Complete
Complete set of dummy reconstruction objects filled. Allows subsequent developments to be independent of existance of "earlier" code.

We take this to mean that the complete set of reconstruction objects is being filled somehow, if needed directly from Monte Carlo truth. All the output classes, both the analysis on the back end and those that are used as input internal to the reconstruction, should exist in a least skeleton form such that development can proceed. Initial implementations of most of the finding and reconstruction algorithms should be usable. Performing alignment and monitoring is not required at this stage, but it is necessary to have sufficient QA software in place to tell that the code is working.

961031 "User" prototypes for analysis
"user" prototypes for data analysis providing basic access to "tracks and clusters"
971101 Functionally complete set of reconstruction objects
filled by reconstruction software
981201 Full reconstruction ready for cosmic run

Other milestones

960312 Prototype Event Display Complete
961101 Review of Data and Database Interfaces
Prototype database implementation assumed to begin here
971031 Database and data storage prototype review
971104 Decision on database and data model technology
980501 Database Deployments
