MC Production - SP9 Run Ranges

Validation And Test Ranges

  • Always use the spbuild "-j valid" option at remote sites (optional for ProdTools V00-06-03 or later)
  • When validating a release, always validate all months for which validation runs are listed
  • If a release has validation runs for multiple views listed, always choose the latest view.
  • SP9/Run6 will use ROOT based CDB exclusively, not Objectivity CDB.
  • Download ROOT based CDB snapshots
  • Current snapshots :
    • SP9::tenth,
    • Data set Name = Nonevent-CDB-SP9-full
    Downloading the snapshot is similar to background trigger events:
      BbkImport --dbsite=slac --dbname bbkr18 --noupdate-sql --dataset Nonevent-CDB-SP9-full \ --remote=0 --ftp-type=bbcp --nstreams 10 --window 1M --multiple 10 --reverse \ bbrdist@bbr-xfer01.slac.stanford.edu {target directory}

  • To download Background Trigger Files
    • When new Background Trigger files are annouced in simuprod-hn, update with the BbkImprt command. BbkImprt will ignore already installed background triggers and only import new collections. This makes it safe to use even if production is ongoing.
      BbkImport --dbsite=slac --dbname bbkr18 --noupdate-sql --dataset BkgTriggers-OnPeak,BkgTriggers-OffPeak --remote=0 --ftp-type=bbcp --nstreams 10 --window 1M --multiple 10 --reverse bbrdist@bbr-xfer01.slac.stanford.edu
      If you have problem connecting to SLAC database, try refreshing with 'BbkTestConnect -k --dbsite slac'

  • To compare your validation runs to SLAC
    • copy them to $BFROOT/prod/log/validation/<site>
    • (Space is limited, so please delete old files first!)
    • cd $BFROOT/prod/log/validation
    • validate.csh <first run> <last run> slac 01 <site> <version> (for AMD)
    • There are no Intel machines available at SLAC. Another site will have to post runs on Intel CPUs.
