The Kanga Home Page
Introduction
Kanga is an ancronym for "Kind ANd
Gentle
Analysis"
(Roo is the TLA for Kanga packages). Kanga was developed in response to
recommendations
from the August 1999 computing
review :
-
organize an effort to provide a limited-function, short-to-medium term
solution for micro analysis using standard framework, but without Objectivity
-
this approach should be considered as a near-term solution for distributing
data to small groups
-
develop strategies for physics analysis in case Objectivity cannot achieve
design goals
In the
Computing Review 2002
KanGA was found to be "the de-facto format for physics analysis at Tier-C sites and
is used by approximately half the analyses at SLAC".
"KanGA should be given the appropriate resources for continuing development and support".
On the other side "... it may be prudent to not attempt to broaden the use of Objectivity
within BaBar and possibly to try to reduce it in a future Computing Model".
