Data Import and Bookkeeping at Remote Sites

Data distribution in the new bookkeeping is very similar in concept and many of the commands to data distribution of "classic Kanga". in particular BbkFiles and BbkImport have very similar options and functionality to kangaFiles and skimImport and include
  • Import selection based on a wide-range of criteria
  • Support for scp, bbftp, and bbcp
  • Checksum testing at any time. Can run directly on NFS server for greater speed.
  • Balancing files across different disks and NFS servers (symlinks automatically created)
but in order to support CM2 Kanga files, the following features have been added
  • Import multiple files per collection
  • Import selection by dataset and file components (micro, mini, etc)
  • Independent collection and file location statuses (is_local and status)
  • Redirection to different export servers depending on data location (LocateForImport)

Some Examples and Further Details

  1. Importing Data without a local database
  2. Using a Local Database
  3. Collection and File Statuses
  4. Caveats and Futures
