How it works

CORBA Event Server setting
  • Select the icon(1) Babar Event Browser Screen Shotto display the Beta Server Configuration window.
  • In the beta server configuration window,  enter the full name of the Corba Event Server:

  • <Machine Name>:<Port Number>/<CORBA Event Server Name> then validate by <Return>. By default, the browser connects to shire01.slac.stanford.edu on port 5030 and server name EB_CES_86.

    Beta Candidate List  setting
    • Select the icon(2) Babar Event Browser Screen Shot to display the Beta Candidate List window or go to the Configuration menu and select the option "Beta Candidate List Selection" to display the Beta List Names window. This allows to build the working list of Beta-Candidate Name List.
    • In this window, there are 3 sub-windows :
      • One containing the official name list of beta-candidates coming from the server.
      • One containing, if needed, a user list of Beta-Candidates.
      • One containing the names of list selected by the user. This list will be sent to the server if applied to get for each event the corresponding Beta-Candidate List.
    Remarks : The first time you launch the Event Browser, the list called Working List, does not exist. Don't forget to initialize this working list by filling in it.


    Collection List  setting
    • Select the icon(3) Babar Event Browser Screen Shot to display the "Collection setting" window or go to the Configuration menu and select the option "Collection Setup" to display the Collection window.
    • In this window, you have 2 options :
      • "Select collection list from a file" for getting a list of collection names contained in a file on the remote computer.

      • ==> you have to provide the full name of this file.
      • "Select default collection" for setting the CORBA Event Server on the default collection.

      • When a server is launched, the default collection name is set by reading a file named 
        <CORBA Event Server Name>.default

    Event Navigation
    • You can navigate a collection in various way :
      •  Select icon(4)Babar Event Browser Screen Shot or  Babar Event Browser Screen Shot(5) or click on the button "Next Event"  or "Previous Event"
      • To acces directly to an event you can :
        • use the slider to set the event position in the collection
        • click on the "Event Direct Access" button to pop-up an Event Chooser window which allow you to enter an ordinal value within the event range or enter the hexadecimals values of the Major ID /Minor ID

    Collection Navigation
  • If you have choosen to get the collections names from a file , the icon(6)Babar Event Browser Screen Shot or the Babar Event Browser Screen Shot(7) and the set of buttons for navigating the collections are enabled and you can use it (see 8) to set the working collection of the CORBA Event Server.

  • Beta Candidate Display
  • For each event, you can have an access to global events informations(Event Parameters, Trigger Parameters, Background Filters Parameters) and the beta-candidates quantities corresponding to the selected name list.
  • From one event to another ,the opened window are refreshed and re-opened. You can disable this options by using the option "Keep status of opened event window(s)"  in the configuration menu.
