QUESTION:
From Linux/Unix how can I see files on Windows/NT?
ANSWER:
Background:
Most Babarians use either Unix or Linux machines but occasionally need to access a file from a Windows/NT machine or copy a file from Unix/Linux to a Windows/NT machine. Unix/Linux uses AFS volumes and directories. Windows/NT uses drives and folders. In Unix/Linux AFS volumes are mounted, in Windows/NT drives are mapped.
How can one see or copy files from either side?
One way is to use the Citrix Farm. SLAC has created the Citrix Neighborhood, a.k.a the Citrix Farm, so users can setup an AFS volume or a Windows/NT drive via the Windows Terminal Server.
The how-to steps are written up in several different web pages. Instead of re-explaining here, the URLs are listed for you below. When copying files you need
write access to areas you are copying files into.
Linux/Unix users need to check if they have 'wfcmgr' on their system. This software is already installed on centrally maintained Solaris and Linux systems. It is not on AIX or SunOS systems. URLs to 'wfcmgr' and mounting AFS volumes:

How to mount an AFS volume to the Windows Terminal Server.
Once you have this set up you should be able to copy files between the AFS directory and the Windows/NT folder by the drag-and-drop method.
Citrix at SLAC is explained in the web page, WindowsTerminal Server at SLAC.
