QUESTION:
I can't compile XXXX while using the production federation!
ANSWER:
Although you are using the production federation, some compilations will required you to have a test federation (so you don't mess up the production one). You can tell if the package you are trying to compile has files ending in .ddl. If so you should do;
echo >.bbobjy FD_NUMBER=<one of your FDID numbers>
gmake database.import BYPASS_LOAD=yes
You will not be able to run applications against this database unless you either don't put the BYPASS_LOAD in the above command or do a gmake database.load at a later time (but before running your application).
