Which dataset should one use?
R24

If you have a skim, determine which R24a skim subcycle processed it:
R24a1 production
R24a2 production
R24a3 production

R22

If you have a skim, determine which category this skim belongs to:
R22f production
R22e production
R22d production
R22c production

R22f is a partial skim cycle with only 4 streams (new and improved skims). R22e is a partial skim cycle with only 21 streams (new and improved skims). R22d is the official skim cycle that contains all streams. R22c was created to provide a dataset targeted to the 2007 Summer conferences to core analyses. It only contains 31 streams.

R18

If you have a skim, determine which category this skim belongs to:
R18b production
R18c production
R18d production

R18b production stands for "skims whose definition or output type did not change moving from R18b to R18c to R18d", that is it does not mean "produced exclusively using the R18b release". Similarly, R18c production stands for "skims whose definition or output type did change moving from R18b to R18c", as well as for "newly introduced skims in R18c". And so on. So, a skim of the R18c category has the full available lumi in the R18c datasets, etc....

For the R18b production skims, you have to use the BBB-Run*-OnPeak-R18b-v07 datasets (and similarly for OffPeak), where BBB is the name of your skim. For the R18c production skims, you have to use the BBB-Run*-OnPeak-R18c-v07 datasets, and for R18d skims BBB-Run*-OnPeak-R18d-v07. The label v07 in the above dataset names stands for the latest released dataset, i.e. you want to use this label to get the largest available luminosity, with data taken up to August 2006. Datasets labelled v06 constitued the vivace datasets and for R18b/c skims differ by v07 only for a handful of Run5 runs; R18d skims were not previously released.

How to run on these datasets
The last chunk of data in the *-R18b-v06 and *-R18c-v06 datasets was processed with the "R18bcd" combined skim release, which was introduced before the end of the run. It was also generated in the online and processed in ER with releases later than analysis-31. This means that you may use the analysis-31 (or analysis-32) release to process those v07 or v06 data that were already in the v05 datasets, but you must use the analysis-32 release for the data added after v05, corresponding to the last ~8/fb (onpeak) and 4.8/fb (offpeak) of Run5 that were added; this is true for all R18b and R18c skims and for AllEventsSkim. Needless to say, in the case of R18d skims, you must use analysis-32.
