BABAR Physics Workshops Home Page

Goals of the Workshops

The goals of the Physics Workshops are four-fold:
  • To elucidate the physics which is relevant to BABAR in a way which is accessible to BABAR experimentalists.
  • To review critically the current theoretical status of this physics.
  • To explore the best methods of extracting results from the experiment.
  • To facilitate direct interaction between BABAR experimentalists and theorists.
  • It is anticipated that the end-result will be a "BABAR Physics Book" which can be a reference for BABAR physicists in the future. It is hoped that the Workshops will be both educational and motivating. The Workshops are organized by BABAR and are primarily intended for members of the BABAR Collaboration. They are, however, open to all theorists expert in the physics to be investigated by BABAR and also to other experimentalists in the field.

    Times and Places

Four Workshops are planned, with an additional "editorial" workshop to finish the series:

  • For people who cannot attend the Rome Workshop, but who will attend (some of) the others, they may register an interest in their first and second choice working groups.

    Organising Committee

The series of Workshops is organised by an Organising Committee comprised of:
  • Roy Aleksan
  • Marcello Giorgi
  • Paul Harrison (Program Coordinator)
  • David Hitlin
  • Helen Quinn (Theory Coordinator)
  • Klaus Schubert
  • Marie-Helene Schune (Chair for Orsay Workshop)
  • Walter Toki
  • Mike Witherell
  • Working Groups and Conveners

The workshops will be divided into nine Working Groups. A preliminary specification of these groups is given below. These will undoubtedly evolve during the first meeting as groups with overlapping topics meet together and decide how to divide their tasks.
