Tue Dec 15 15:40:03 PST 1998 A copy of TokenPage.html exists here temporarily in order to facilitate the move of the BaBar web to the new BaBar web design. Chee (6/25/97) Welcome to $BFROOT (also known as /afs/slac.stanford.edu/g/babar). This is the root of all BABAR collaboration code. This disk area is backed up - but only in a format meant to be used in case of catastrophic disk failure, i.e. not to retrieve files you accidentally removed. (Users are encouraged to archive individual files/directories of interest to them using other means, such as "wdsf" or direct tape backup.) The organization of this disk space is as follows below. Note that within AFS individual directories may have different protections; you will see this as you browse the BFROOT tree. (To see how a particular directory is protected, issue the "fs la" command.) Within a particular directory in which you have permission to write or delete, remember to clean up any trash you may leave behind, and that it is bad form to remove other people's files, so please be careful. Note to remote BABAR users: $BFROOT contains many directories, some of which are relevant to running BABAR code (reconstruction, simulation or online), others are of use only to SLAC users, while others are a miscellany of odd bits. In general, the directories that will be of potential interest to remote collaborators (e.g. for code management access or mirroring) are indicated with a star "*" in the explanations below. Others should not be copied/mirrored unless it is known to be of interest and known not to contain licensed software. Quick guide to main $BFROOT subdirectories: bin - binary executables and scripts (bin.xxx = architecture-dependent) (Please see the README in this directory for further info) bbsim - monte carlo production area (link to simu) data - data (Please see the README in this directory for further info) demo - vendor demos dist - * production software release directory dist/packages - all BABAR software "packages" (components) dist/releases - all BABAR software "releases" (entire system) doc - * documentation, notes, papers, world-wide web files, etc. download- for downloading to VxWorks images VME processors etc - utilities (e.g. login "dot" files) and other admin files fonts - X11 fonts include - header files (.h) internal - BABAR collaborators only files lib - object libraries and script functions (lib.xxx = architecture-dependent) log - (temporary) command log files man - man pages package - third party code, not maintained by cvs or BABAR prod - link to simu/bbsim/prod products - * gnu and freeware of interest to BABAR (currently in bbsim/products) reco - reconstruction production area repo - * CVS repository for code management scratch - temporary disk space (contact dragon@slac... for usage) simu - simulation production area src - source code not a part of official BABAR releases trigger - production trigger files (vhdl, etc.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Questions, suggestions, comments, and requests are welcome and should be directed to Tom Glanzman (dragon@slac.stanford.edu).
